I absolutely loved being invited back to this sweet family’s home to photograph their newest arrival. For their firstborn, we split the newborn session between my studio and their home, so of course, we had to do the same thing for their new baby boy.
This session took place in early fall, and we lucked out with the most beautiful weather. (Also, while I didn’t include them here, we definitely snuck in a few adorable shots of baby in a Santa hat for their Christmas card!)
One of the best parts about doing your newborn session at home—especially when there’s a toddler sibling in the mix—is that we can roll with the rhythm of your day. If a nap is needed mid-session, no problem… which is exactly what happened here. You might notice big brother missing from the last set of images!
I may need to do a separate blog post with highlights from the studio portion of this newborn session because I had way too many favorites just from the in-home portion alone.
Wardrobe notes: Mom, Dad, and big brother’s outfits were their own and newborn baby boy was wrapped in swaddle and cozy blankets from my studio. Everyone who books a full session with me gets free access to my online styling assistant software, which simplifies outfit selection by automatically coordinating wardrobe pieces that are both stylish and photography-friendly. Many of my clients find it helpful for shopping within their own closets. Ready for a session where your family is coordinated beautifully but with zero stress? Send me a message for your in-home newborn photography session!

I just absolutely loved this little 6 month milestone session for baby Cooper! Kellie did such an amazing job styling their session with all the blush and mauve tones. It looks like they should be in a magazine!

I just want to first say that James and Kayla were absolute troopers during their rain filled wedding at Brightfield Farm. We thought we were going to have more time before the rain moved in, but as I had Kayla’s wedding dress outside to take detail shots, I started to feel raindrops. I looked at Kayla’s sister with wide eyes and asked her “is that rain?!” She quickly helped me get everything under a covered area and then the bottom let out of the sky. Soon after, we realized that James and Kayla weren’t going to be able to get married under the beautiful tree-covered pathway that Brightfield Farm has. Instead, they would be moving the ceremony to their backup plan under the pavilion. At this wedding venue, they have so many options for ceremony locations which is great when rain moves in! Don’t worry though…we still got some amazing photos in the pathway after the rain moved on. Just scroll down to see.
James and Kayla had an intimate wedding with their family and closest friends. It was so nice seeing how close Kayla’s family is and all of the love and support that she and James have. Everyone was so helpful and it made the day run so smoothly when the plan changed. I felt like everyone was truly focused on the marriage and life that James and Kayla were starting instead of letting the rain affect the day. We were able to get gorgeous photos under the pavilion after James and Kayla’s first look and then once the rain moved on, we were able to get even more photos in all of the gorgeous trees, garden, and fields that Brightfield Farm has to offer!
I hope you can see all of the love that went into making all of the details for this wedding. Kayla worked so hard to create everything and there were so many sweet touches. Something that was really special during the day was how James and Kayla made it a huge priority to include Kayla’s daughter in special moments. She was Kayla’s only bridesmaid and she walked her mom down the aisle. James, Kayla, and Aslyn then planted a tree together during the ceremony to show how their family will grow deep roots together. I wish I could go on and on about how awesome James and Kayla are, but if you’ve read this far…I’m sure you’re getting tired of me.
James and Kayla, I’m so glad you chose me to photograph your first day as husband and wife! I hope you love reliving your wedding day!
You’ll notice that Aslyn also has a special new ring on her finger! I just love this!

I almost titled this post “A Cinderella Wedding at the Historic Riverwood Mansion in Nashville, TN” because Jane was a stunning real-life version of Cinderella standing next to Steven in his uniform. I was lucky enough to get to hang out with Jane multiple times before the wedding and it made shooting her wedding feel like I was shooting a friend’s wedding. It also allowed me to be a calming presence when Jane was worried that Steven might accidentally see her before the wedding. Her gown was stunning, she looked like royalty, and she wanted the fairytale moment of him seeing her for the first time as she walked down the aisle to him. They had so many friends and family travel to see them be married and it was exciting to keep her hidden from sight as guests arrived early. My second shooter and I had to channel our inner Burt Macklin/Secret Service skills and get her tucked away!
I wish you could have seen my face as I was shooting Jane’s bridal details and the groom’s brother walked by. I did a literal double take and then I probably startled him as I said “Whoa!” out loud. The groom has a TWIN! I had no idea! It was probably really comical to see my face as I watched him walk by. Oh, and you’re going to see a lot of photos of his adorable little boy and girl. They were the cutest little flower girl and ring bearer.
Steven and Jane’s entire wedding party was so sweet and awesome the entire day as we shuffled from one event to the next to make sure we were getting everything before the rain moved in. We were really really blessed that day. The forecasts had been calling for rain all week and there must have been a lot of family and friends praying because the rain held off until after we were done with portraits and tucked into the reception.
I also want to mention that this was my first wedding at Riverwood Mansion and I was blown away by this beautiful venue and the amazing staff. They did such a great job with all the details of the day and were so helpful and hands-on whenever I needed something. Steven and Jane’s wedding was absolutely stunning and I hope that I get to shoot there again.
Steven and Jane, I’m so glad that I got to be your photographer for your wedding. Thank you so much for allowing me to capture your love and I hope that you love this sneak peek blog post of my favorite moments.
Just look at that ceiling! So gorgeous!
I just love all of her girls’ reactions to seeing her in her dress for the first time.
This ivy tunnel is just beyond amazing!
I loved that they gave their new mothers roses. It was a surprise to the moms and it was so so sweet.

Aaron and Jessica’s wedding was very much a spring wedding in Tennessee. They had beautiful pops of color throughout their florals and decor and like a lot of spring weddings, we were dodging light rain for most of their portrait time. When I first arrived at Old Glory Distillery, they had a beautiful outdoor ceremony setup. When the weather forecast looked like a good bit of rain was on its way, the Old Glory & PSR Events teams moved the ceremony setup indoors. Well….since Tennessee weather is crazy and doesn’t know what it wants to do, the rain just kept dying off before it got to us so everyone jumped into action a few minutes before the ceremony to move everything back outside. It really was exciting to see everyone work so quickly to put together the ceremony that Aaron and Jessica wanted. And as a photographer, I was all about that good natural lighting for the outdoor ceremony.
I loved getting to watch Jessica light up anytime she got to be alone with Aaron on their wedding day. I don’t know if you know this or not, but wedding days can be SUPER stressful. You spend all this time planning out all the little details and answering a million little questions but when Jessica was with her Aaron, you just got the feeling that all the wedding day stress melted away because she was marrying her person. They had so much laughter and love and it was really nice to get to witness that and be a part of their day.
Some of my favorite parts of their wedding were Jessica’s wedding dress, her blue wedding heels, her man of honor, and a delicate handkerchief that had been passed down by multiple generations in her family to be worn on her wedding day. Jessica’s wedding dress was fully beaded and weighed a ton! It was stunning and I honestly don’t know how she wore it all day and night!!! Pair that dress with her blue heels and I was in love!!
I also loved that Jessica had a “man of honor” and a “bridesman” in her bridal party. I love that some of her closest friends got to stand up beside her and help her marry the love of her life. And let me tell you, Kevin (the man of honor) definitely did not take his job lightly. He was just such a huge help to everyone that day and I was so grateful for him. His toast during the reception brought the entire room to laughter and then tears as he talked about his friendship and love for Jessica. He was the perfect “man of honor”!
Aaron and Jessica, I loved getting to witness and capture your love on your wedding day. Thank you so much for allowing me to be your photographer and I hope you love this sneak peek blog post of my favorite moments.
Jessica and her two “bridesmen”
Right after we captured some photos of the full bridal party, it started raining so the groomsmen all moved inside for their photos and I think it was really fitting for this group of guys! They looked great standing in front of the production distillery room.
While we were setting up for the photo in front of the Old Glory sign, I noticed a ladybug on Jessica’s dress. I pointed it out and then went to move it and Jessica said “Oh, that’s my Nana!” She went on to tell me that after her Nana passed, they kept finding ladybugs everywhere and that it’s her showing up for important life moments. I just immediately got misty-eyed and made sure to put that ladybug right back where I found her.
Soooooo many guests were chanting for Jessica to smash the cake in the beard! Can you imagine cleaning that out?!
I love the barrel filling at Old Glory! You get to learn a little bit about the process and if you’re lucky, the working cat comes out to say hi!

One of the best things about a photograph is that it can take you right back to a moment in time –– right back to the love and joy you felt when that image was taken. My goal is to freeze all those beautiful moments, whether it's welcoming a brand-new baby or capturing the love and connection of your family. During sessions, I am the ultimate tickle monster, giggle maker, and baby whisperer. My family sessions are play-based and fun, while my newborn sessions are gentle and relaxed, allowing for sweet, natural moments to unfold. No matter the occasion, I always strive to capture you authentically.
